This ladder is a pre-framed unit designed for you to install into a ceiling opening. The ceiling door has to open to a full ninety degrees so you can sufficiently lower the ladder.

The LST 66875 comes as a one-piece unit ready to fit into your ceiling opening. It comes with a quick installation system.

The small folding ladder design enables you to fit it into smaller openings than many other types of attic ladder.

The ladder itself is of an innovative design that opens with a scissor action. It is attached to both the door and the sides of the ceiling opening.

The door has a white finish and seats in a ladder box made from high-quality pine. It is insulated with a gasket to prevent heat loss. It has a unique mechanism that opens the ladder slowly and safely, and which also ensures that it will not close by itself when fully open.

  • The wooden door frame is insulated with a peripheral seal, which reduces heat loss and therefore keeps energy costs down.
  • The scissor design gives you something to hold on to as you climb the ladder.
  • You could add one or two extra steps if required.

Any Downside?

Only that scissor-movement attic ladders are more expensive than wood or aluminum versions.

Just note that on this model, the opening is quite a bit smaller than other attic ladders. If you only wish to move small items into your attic space, this is not an issue. But it does emphasize the need to buy the right FAKRO ladder for your needs. We show the different sizes at the end of this post.

Conclusion

This Fakro ladder is a cleverly designed attic ladder that is stylish too. There is an overwhelming positivity about it from existing owners and users. The LST66875 is top-end.

A well-designed, highly functional, and convenient attic ladder, the build quality, and engineering are excellent.

It costs considerably more than other types of attic access. It's not cheap, but everything about this ladder oozes quality.

Opinions vary on how easy it is to fit. Some have found it a challenge, mainly due to the weight of the unit that you need to maneuver into position. Fitting is a job for two people.

FAKRO loft ladders are available in five different rough opening sizes. Although they are designed for smaller openings, there should be one available that fits your requirements.
